My Picture

Just before Thanksgiving I teamed up with Cindy Shea, the director of the lifelong learning program at Laurel Gardens in Trumball, CT.  We presented a workshop, “Baby Boomers Coming of Age,” at the annual conference of the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association, in Hartford, CT.

With the world of therapeutic recreation and recreation for seniors changing, our presentation was designed to promote innovative onsite partnerships with colleges, communities, state and national organizations, including official Lifelong Learning Centers in affiliation with the Elderhostel Institute Network.  We emphasized that these programs can be developed in diverse settings where Baby Boomers reside or visit.

It was also a wonderful way for me to use my book, “Learning Later, Living Greater: The Secret for Making the Most of Your After-50 Years,” to help educate the attendees about the value of lifelong learning for older adults.
