First of all, which I haven't mentioned before, Sandie is an "early bird" and is up long before I am. She does all kinds of things around the house, something I could easily get used to--sweeping, MOPPING, cleaning the dust off the fans, even washing/drying/folding (sort of) clothes. Man, I could EASILY get used to this. PLUS, she bakes a can of biscuits each morning and Sid can have that for breakfast with her. Can you imagine having someone visit you and do all these things? I LOVE IT!!! (Of course, I'd love HER no matter what she did or didn't do, and I'm sure she knows that.)
While Sid climbed on the tractor again to try to get more of the back orchard and the area behind the back orchard mowed, Sandie and I hit the highway again. We went to W/D for more fried chicken. Did I mention that Sandie LOVES fried chicken? No? Well, she does, and I must say that the fried chicken from W/D is pretty good. When we got home, Sid was still mowing and it time for dinner, so we ate together and Sid ate when he was done.
After Sid ate his dinner, he took off on the tractor again, and WE took to the highway again. This time, we went to DQ and BK--we wanted to try their chocolate shakes and make some of those little frozen thingies that Sandie likes, so that's what we did. I thought the shakes were pretty expensive, but Sandie got ELEVEN little frozen thingies, so I think we had a pretty good deal.
Shakes purchased, we took off for the Cottage, but I took Sandie on a mini-tour of New Roads, bringing her back here on a different route. By the time we got back, Sid was done and we had to get ready for Mass, which we attended at St. Augustine's. The parish was celebrating Grandparents' Day all weekend, so we (all grandparents) were given a little gift--a guardian angel and a prayer for grandparents. A really nice surprise, don't you think? I have it in my special place for my special saints, and I'm sure I'll be saying that prayer quite often.
We decided to have supper at SATTERFIELD'S tonight--good food, excellent service, and ambience--the three things I look for in a good restaurant. Sandie got a HUGE rib eye steak and fries; Sid got a shrimp po-boy and fries; I got trout almondine and veggies. We all had plenty enough food and Sandie was able to bring some home (I think she plans to surprise Mollie, her dog, with whatever scraps are left over. Lucky dog!)
Tonight, we began packing up some of the goodies from our garden that we're sending back to Kati and whomever else there will eat that. Sandie does NOT eat veggies or jellies or bread or much of anything else. LOL But I know her family does, so we'll send a care package to them anyway.
We'll be heading back to Lockport tomorrow; Sid, of course, has to remain here, but I'll be back on Tuesday, probably with Randi in tow. Please pray for a safe trip there and back. Here's a VERY SPECIAL request: Our eldest daughter and her husband have just decided to separate, leading to a divorce. This has been a long time coming, but it's extremely hard on everyone, especially the children. Please keep them in your prayers, that they can remain civil throughout the process for the sake of the kids, and that the end result will finally bring them peace and happiness. Thanks ahead of time for what I know will be sincere prayers for them.
