time to mow the orchard--again!

My Picture
The weather was beautiful today, so Farmer Joyce came over to visit. Ah, yes--today was my day to mow the front orchard. Usually, Sid will mow around the trees and I'll do all the rest; however, I didn't want him doing too much today since we head to the orthopedist tomorrow to get the sutures removed. Sid warned me not to get too close to the trees, not to try to move the overhanging branches--did I listen? NOPE! Actually, I have very thin skin (no, not that kind that indicates that I get upset when someone says something about me--you know, she's so thin-skinned--but rather, literally, my skin is very thin), so when I tried to shift a rather large branch to the side of the mower, it came back and gave me a pretty good skin tear on my the top of my right hand. Have no fear, though, 'cuz we had all the medical supplies we needed and the wound was tended to. This is a problem I've been having for the past few years, so I am used to having to deal with such injuries. NBD! I did manage to complete the mowing of the front orchard, even though I was "wounded in action" today. I didn't get as close to the trees as I would have liked, but that's just too bad. The orchard really looks nice, too. While I was watching the blood come through my bandage (a little sympathy here, please), Sid was picking up cucumbers in the garden. He picked up close to 35 of them today, and he didn't fool around with the tomatoes today. Tomorrow should bring in a pretty good crop of those, too. I can't wait to get a few more ears of corn--that stuff is sooooo good! When we go to the doctor's tomorrow, we'll be in the neighborhood of a SAM's store, the one located on Siegan Lane. We'll pick up a few items that we need, including stuff for Dad. We'll have to check with our kids to see if anyone needs anything from there. Last time I went to the Manor, I was told that Dad needed socks, so I mentioned that to Sandie. She purchased some today and will bring them with her when she goes for Mom's appointment on Friday. I'll be getting more diapers for Dad, too, now that the Manor has started asking for them again. As we all know by now, Paris Hilton is out of jail. Out of curiosity, I watched her interview by Larry King this evening. Although I am NOT a fan of hers, I must say that she did seem sincere about wanting to change her image and her lifestyle. Let us all hope that is true, not because of who she is, but because she is a young woman who hopefully learned a really good lesson--and her life can be the better for it. Although she deserved to be punished for breaking the law, I do not think her punishment fit her crime. (I do hate the fact that almost all the news shows tonight, though, are being taken over by news of her. She's out; she can go home; there are other people who are more important. Let her get on with her life and let's get on with ours.) That's it for tonight! Have a great evening! "The greatest enemy of justice is privilege." --Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
