It is great to know that I can still learn new things and be open to them. I have always had a desire to help people, to love, to be kind and show mercy and understanding. I have learned that not everyone is ready to receive. There comes a time in everyone's life when we have to concede, not compromise, but allow others to think and believe what they choose. We cannot expect to win others to our way of thinking if they are not willing, including myself. Hoopie said,if we believe, we believe. That is true. Sometimes we fool ourselves and keep going back for more, but there is a time to say uncle.
I love the Lord with all my heart and He has shown me so much mercy and forgiven me for not obeying Him. He has answered many prayers.
I remember when I was about 11 yrs old, I asked God for something special and He gave it to me. We lived in an old farmhouse that my dad farmed and share-cropped. I hated it, because it was dreary work with no joy. My dad was a negative man and we were not taught that work could be a joyful thing. We planted cotton and my younger brother and me were made to help with the harvest. I always said, that when I grew up, I would live in the city. I wanted no part of the country or farming. Soooo, I was told by my Sunday School teacher that if you asked God for something, he would give it to you. (my childish faith knew no bounds) I went out into the corn field and hid,so I could talk to God. I asked Him to give us a new home in the city. I even told Him what I wanted in the house, beautiful curtains and rugs, etc. Guess what ? In 3 months I had that beautiful house in the city!! Dad quit farming and went to work for Tinker Air Force base in Oklahoma City ! I loved the house and I had my own bedroom ! Our farm house had only 3 rooms. My sister, brother, and myself shared the same bedroom and Mom & Dad slept in the living room. I have never, ever forgot how God answered my prayer. This is only one of many times.
