My Picture
In a brutal assault, a woman who has dedicated herself to justice was defiled in Durham, North Carolina last year. The system took advantaged of this grand lady of our land, who is blind and carries around the scales of justice. The chief perpertrator of the crime was District Attorney, Mike Nifong. Nifong, still on trial, may pay for his crime in shame and possible prison time. However, this was a gang rape and many others participated who will never face justice. In a racially tense atmosphere, came civil rights advocacy groups, Black Panthers, etc. to Durham. They were reacting to a long list of injustices to blacks in America and looking out for the civil rights of the black accuser. That’s OK. I applaud activist who seek to keep an eye on the justice system to assure fairness. That is their right as Americans. I would acknowledge the long list of black men who have suffered injustice for having sex or being accused of rape of a white woman. But when activists prejudiced people against the white accused assailants, they preempted the justice system. (It’s time to burn a bunch of rich white, privileged elitist.) There were death threats made against these defendants. These black groups and their followers became no better than the KKK who intimidated southern juries of the past. The evidence coming out seems to indicate that Mike Nifong bit, “hook, line and sinker.” He feared alienating the black community and losing the upcoming election, so he rigged evidence, ignored proper protocols, and proceeded with a rape charge from a victim who lacked credibility. No one wants to be called a bigot in modern day, politically correct, America. People are terrified of black activist and what they can do to reputations. I certainly would be. Was the idea of having a couple of black strippers performing at an all white frat house a good idea? Hell no! It was plain stupid. It probably was illegal. But college boys will be college boys. Should these three young men, who could even prove that they were not there at the time, suffer debasement that will be on their persons for the rest of their lives? That plain wrong too. It was a “Bonfire of the Vanities.” I would be just as fervent in defending a miscarriage of justice against a black man, Jew, Native American, Latino, gay, etc. Justice is blind and we must fight to keep it that way. The only violation committed in Durham was the rape of Lady Justice. It is a crime to rape a blind woman.
