My Picture
I subscribe to a relatively conservative newspaper, The Cincinnati Enquirer, and read this heartwarming story on the inside cover: Wounded Iraq Veteran Gets Van From Rimes Iran veteran, Peter Reid has gotten a boost from LeAnn Rimes, popular female vocalist. A 2004 enemy attack in Iraq left a Navy Seebee partially paralyzed, blind in one eye and dependent on a motorized wheelchair. He also suffered a brain injury. He has not been able to leave his Palm Bay, Florida house for months as it takes two people to move him to his car. Now he’s looking forward to shopping trips along with his wife, Michele, because of this gift of Rimes. Last week, the 24-year LeAnn Rimes handed Reid the keys to a new motorized van. She teamed up with Cheverolet and the Coalition to Salute American Heroes to purchase the van for Reid. “She wonderful” said Reid. “She said ‘Pete, come with me. I have something for you.’ I went out and there was the van. It was quite a surprise.” I just purchased tickets for the LeAnn Rimes concert that is coming to my area this August. I have every confidence that she will not badmouth America during the show. Why wasn’t this story on the front page of every newspaper in America or at least the Tabloids?
