My Picture
I checked my order out at my neighborhood Wal*Mart and when I went to process my credit card for payment I noticed something new on the message machine. It used to give me a choice of English or Spanish but now the message was, “Please select a language.” I thought, isn’t this great, Wal*Mart is recognizing that there are thousands of French Canadians and Germans in Florida and maybe they would like to process out in their native languages. Seem fair. So I asked the cashier, “Is French available?” “No,” she replied. “How about German?” “No.” “Italian, Russian, Turkish, Greek?” “No, no, no and no.” “Mandarin Chinese, Japanese?” “No, no.” “Latin, Aramaic?” “No, no.” “Espanol?” “Si, si,” “Muchas Gracias.” “No problemo.” “How about English?” “Yea, that one too.” OK, same old Wal*Mart but you expected more that two languages when you were offered a "selection." It's like going to the ice cream store and finding out they only have vanilla and chocolate.
