blogging could put criminal out on the street

My Picture
In Florida, a juror who served on a jury wrote a blog about a trial he had just served on. He expressed the opinion that the defendant was guilty in his eyes from day one and he should have received a heavier sentence. Someone read this blog on the Internet and now the defense attorney is seeking a new trial. I have served on a Florida jury within the past five years. I was unfortunately selected as Foreman. It was not the highlight of my career but an interesting experience. I was not blogging on a regular basis at that time but if I were, more than likely I would have related the experience in my journal. Why not? Well now I know why not. The message is clear. Keep your thoughts to yourself. It is far safer to reveal the secret code word from your college fraternity that blab about a trial. Do you want to be responsible for putting a criminal back out on the street?
