would you get on that plane?

My Picture
I don’t want to be picking on Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela, but he made the news again a couple of days ago by shutting down the top private TV station that voiced opposition to his administration. He is turning it into a public information (propaganda?) station. Crowds were in the street protesting but his police hosed them down. Also, to make matters worst he jailed a political rival. He seems to have his hands on the Idi Amin Handbook of converting your Presidency into “King for Life.” This is just another chapter. Hugo Chavez wants to hurt America, plain and simple. When he was in NYC giving his infamous “Bush is a Devil” speech to the United Nations, he spent considerable time in Harlem talking to black civil rights leaders. He envisions a class war in the United States between rich and poor. He envisions a race war in America between blacks, Indians and the white man. He sees a socialistic future for our country, possible under his influence. He considers himself to be both black and Indian because his is of mixed ancestry. He has been parading his “anti-America” agenda around the world to the “rogue” nations and anyone who will listen. He as invited just about any one in America who routinely degrades the country or the current Administration to visit. Visitors have included Cindy Sheehan, Sean Penn, and Harry Bellefonte to name a few. Right now he is entertaining the Trans-Africa group, headed up by Danny Glover. They are going to be making movies there with state provided funds. What Venezuela needs aren’t more movies. Sixty-three percent of the population lives below the poverty line. Yet this is in one of the most oil rich countries in the world. Hugo Chavez is proud to be building the “Socialistic showcase of the twenty-first century.” So, OK Mr. Chavez. You got a good thing going there. You will be the next Fidel Castro and spit in America’s eye. You will keep dissents in America stirred up. You will call American Presidents dirty names. Good for you. So now lets agree that the people of both countries should be given a choice of which of the two countries to live in – America or Venezuela. Lets have unlimited immigration for a month so people can decide for themselves. I venture to guess that 50% of the citizens of Venezuela would get in line to take a free plane trip to America and change their citizenship. I would further venture to guess that America would not be able to fill one single plane going to Venezuela for the same purpose. Does that tell you something? Would you get on that plane? Then don’t go to Venezuela to help with the “revolution,” with every intention of returning to your homeland or believe Hugo Chavez’s propaganda and use it to bad mouth America. There is only one devil here and I don’t have any trouble smelling the sulfur.
