life in the here and now

My Picture
I think too many people focus on either the past or the future and we fail to live in the now. I wasted too many years worrying about anything and everything. I lived in an abusive relationship for many years and the positive part of that time was that I learned to appreciate my husband now. My first husband died after suffering for a year with kidney disease. He got a kidney transplant, but it didn't take and he lived for 10 days. No one but God knows how much he made me suffer too. I have learned to appreciate life and take advantage of all the good moments. I am not a materialistic person. Things become a bondage of sorts. We own our home, but I don't focus on those things, like I used to. I look at a person's character and what makes them unique. People are a wonder and a mystery. I don't think we can really know anyone. We all have our private places where no one else can go. I truly enjoy life and I want to make the most of the time I have left. To love, to encourage, to give hope where there is none. My faith in God enables me to do that. That is my calling in life. I know there are many negative issues facing our society today. I am concerned about our environment, the loss of trees, damage to the rain forest, animals habitat's being ruined. Global warming and the fact that no one has any good solutions. I am concerned about health care and the passivity with which our government reacts to these problems. I am concerned about our troops being slaughtered in a country who doesn't give a damn about a human life. I cannot focus on these issues all the time or I would be one depressed individual, so I do everything I can and do those things that I believe are right and leave the rest in the hands of God. That is the only way that I can live in peace. My advice to young people is to pledge yourself to be the best person you can be and focus on the good that you can do. Love God , love yourself, love others and contribute all you can to the world.
