my search for a gardner

My Picture

Here in the south we get a "Farm Journal" newspaper.  No, I don't have a farm but I do live in the country on five acres, and I subscribe to it just go  keep up with the farm scene.

There is a section in it like most newspapers, "Help Wanted" and one for "Work Wanted".  Yesterday I called a gentleman that needed work. His ad said he was 54 yrs old and was experienced in  gardening and general handyman type work.  He also said that he had a little travel trailer and needed a "spot" to park it.  Perfect, or so I thought!

I first told him what I was looking for and he listened very tentatively to what I had to say. Then he told me what he was looking for.

Lord have mercy ! This man said he had recently had a stroke, was very limited as to what he could do and had a dog that he had to have by his side because he was subject to seizures.  And that he had to have a salary so he could send a "little something"  to his ex-wife for a child that he gets every other week-end.

Needless to say I wished him good luck!

I think God is trying to tell me something. First I try to find a companion and that was a sour  experience, and now I can't even find a "gardner".  I think God is trying to tell me to count my blessings, don't you?

I'm wondering at this point if I should just say, "retirement homes here I come".
