LOVE COMES TO ALL Miriam sat at the corner table in the small cafeteria on the High Street tired out yet very satisfied because she had purchased a beautiful coffee table for her flat. It had a black melanin top the edges were trimmed with a gold leaf design amd it stood on three gold legs each representing a musical note. The table itself was a most unusual shape and that was what had caught her eye when she first laid eyes on it. Miriam was a violinist she played in the London Philharmonc Orchestra and loved every single minute, it filled her with a deep satisfaction and pleasure, what could she ask for more. The table she admired was designed in the shape of a violin. It was going to be sent to her home in a few hours. The price had been very reasonable for such an unusual object and it had been reduced by half-price.Sitting opposite her was her best friend and confident- Pam,there she was sipping her hot chocolate as if she never wanted to Finish it.(Pam loved hot chocolate). “You know Pam,I’m so glad you could come with me to buy the table set. I’ve had my eyes on it for months, but it was far too expensive. But I had an instinct that it would come down in price all a matter of patience and in that I am well endowed.I was a bit worried that it may have been sold but luckily it wasn’t,it’s beautiful isn’t it Pam? Wanting her best friend’s approval, even though she knew she had done the right thing, she had a niggly feeling in the pit of her stomach. Pam was a down to earth woman so very different from Miriam she worked as a draughtswoman in an Engineering factory. Music to her was not a big deal, she found beauty in a ballbearing or the inside of a car.but she was too polite to say what she really thought. Paying £200 for a violin shaped table was ridiculous to say the least she knew of better ways to spend her money. “Yes, yes, it is really lovely and the shape is most unusal Miriam but tell me are you going to use it or is only for decoration knowing that Miriam had a collection of unusal objects all over her flat and was always buying something “that caught her eye”. “Of course I will use it silly, but it will also be for decoration it fits ino the surroundings beautifully, did you see the four small stools that came with it? It is very well made excellent quality wood the formica top is also of the top quality,no staining or cracking cleans so easily too.Come up on Sunday to celebrate I’ll make your favourite cakes and coffee apart from some speciality West Indian Cuisine. You won’t want to go home.” .Pam nodded an okay her mouth was full of strawberry cheese cake. She was very fond of Miriam who was a sensitive slim dark girl with an exceptional talent for music. Coming from the West Indies at l7 she had won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music to further her studies in the violin. Now at 26 she had achieved her life’s ambition and played in the London Symphony Orchestra. Pam had met her on the plane to New York within minutes they were chatting away ten to the dozen and became instant friends. Two years later they were still as close as ever. Pam found Miriam tobe a serious, honest sweet person with a heart of gold. She’d give her last penny if she thought you was in trouble. Many were the days when her shoulder had been a comfort for Pam especially after “boyfriend” trouble and goodness Pam had plenty of that. “Miriam darling, how I treasure our friendship you will never know” and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Pam Pam what’s got into you, I love you too and our friendship means a lot to me. Must go now, Bob will be soon be home and I always like to meet him with his favourite drink (you guessed) Irish Whiskey”,laughing she waved goodbye. Bob her lover and the man she shared a flat with was a hefty Irishman. They were lovers for more than 6 months. He woked as an electrician in the theatre,in charge of all the stage lighting and surroundings. Miriam had had some trouble with her lights in the dressing room and called for help. Bob came to see what the trouble was. He had fallen in love with her at first sight. So petite standing there looking so down fallen. She was the prettiest thing he had ever seen. Oval shaped face, head covered with tight corkscrew curls cropped close to the scalp like a black cap encircling her face. Her features were perfect like a porcelain doll.He had never seen anything like her. When she looked up at him with her large green eyes he was completely bowled over. It didn’t take long and soon they were dating. Bob was a tall man over 6ft he had red hair and blue eyes a boyish but manly face. He was known to be a kind man sensitive and loyal especially to his friends. He too loved music and dancing. Though they were so very different they were well matched. She Had an unusual beauty caused by a mixture of different ancesters which made her stand out in a crowd. For him who was a big man he felt a great tenderness towards her want
