My Picture
Another quick, but enjoyable trip home ended today when we arrived back at the Cottage around 6pm. While there, my camera was ready, aimed, and fired quite a few times, most especially in the direction of the grandkids. I'll try to put up a few pics tonight. On the way to Lockport, we purchased a flat of strawberries from Ponchatoula, the strawberry capital of the world. A flat consists of 12 little baskets, only two of which we brought back with us. The others were distributed to our kids and to my Mom, all of whom will thoroughly enjoy them, I'm sure. I'm not big on strawberries, but I do enjoy the occasional few with sugar and cream, probably something I shouldn't do, but hey--gotta have some fun in life. Right? After getting a haircut, I went to my scheduled appointment with my cardiologist. Everything was great (except my weight, of course, but when you live where I do, it's difficult to find someone who DOESN'T have a weight problem). My blood pressure was excellent--118/74, a textbook number. With three b/p meds being taken regularly, I was pleased; it means that the meds are doing what they're supposed to do. Last night, we had a special treat of boiled crawfish, courtesy of Jess and Lance. YUMMY! Lance does an excellent job of boiling them--just the right amount of seasonings--and we ate to our heart's content (although our stomachs might have complained a little about the amount we put in them). We visited with my Mom and Dad today, both of whom are doing about the same. Mom has severe arthritis in her legs and hands; Dad has Alzheimer's; you can probably guess their conditions at this time, especially with both of them starting to get a little bit old--87 years old, to be exact. We thank God for them every day. Our youngest grandson had a birthday party today, his actual 2nd birthday being on the 1st. When we arrived, there were little ones running all over the place, two ponies carrying little ones, and one of those space walk thingies in the front yard. Lots of fun for everyone. As usual, the trip was over too quickly, but that's ok. We enjoyed every minute. Have a great Sunday!
