Yes, we actually did see a movie today--HAIR SPRAY, with John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer (sp?). I was not expecting a real "musical" like we used to see just about every weekend as we were growing up, but that's pretty much what it was. The scenes weren't as elaborate as those musicals of long ago, but the music was good. I'm sure no one would say that these songs will have the same effect as songs like: OKLAHOMA, SEVENTY-SIX TROMBONES, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, etc.; however, for the movie, they were OK. Randi said she liked it, and that's saying a lot.
We went to the RAVE theater located near the Mall of Louisiana, and getting there is so easy compared to getting to most of the theaters around the city. This is a really nice theater, with comfortable seats and lots of choices. I think this is my new "favorite place" to see movies!
Because we saw the 11am movie, I wasn't hungry for lunch, but Randi seemed to want to grab a little something to "tide her over" until supper. I pulled in at McD's and got her some nuggets and a lemonade--that was perfect for her.
When we got back at the Cottage, Sid was still mowing in back. He actually finished the back orchard, the area behind the orchard, and most of the area on the side of the woods. He even was able to mow some of the area where we had a bulldozer working a few months ago. Eventually, we'll get the place looking the way we want it to look, but it does take time.
I had asked Sid to take out some chicken breasts from the freezer so I could cook some chicken strips for supper. After defrosting the package, I cut them into strips so they would be ready for cooking. I prepared some onions and green peppers to saute, and did that right away. I then started cooking the chicken. We also had a very small amount of cooked okra that I planned to use as a side dish; I then got the bright idea to add some of the chicken to some of the okra, just to see how that would taste--it was delicious! I added the onions and peppers to the chicken strips and just let everything cook down. I added another side of Bush's vegetarian baked beans, just to have a little more on the plates.
We invited Bess over for supper, and she accepted, so we planned to having our meal around 7pm. I also heated up some cheesy bread to go along with the meal (actually, Bess had given us the package of bread a while back, so it worked out just fine).
During the day today, I got a couple of calls from Josh (one while I was in the theater). The closing date for their new home will be September 12, so our plan is to go to Denver around that time, making sure that we're also there for Josh's birthday on the 18th of September. It will be nice to celebrate his birthday with him because we haven't been able to do that for a long time. We'll also celebrate Joey's birthday with him in October, so we're getting lots of good, quality time with our sons this summer.
Mom called tonight to tell me that my nephew, the one who almost died a few months ago from a drug overdose, has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital again. Hopefully, he will receive the help he really needs, and I ask your prayers in his behalf. I thank you for that!
That's it for tonight! Have a great evening and a terrific tomorrow.
