Trip to the ER!

My Picture
The past couple of days have been pretty rough for me. I don't know how or when it happened but apparently I strained a muscle in my back quite badly. It was hurting so much I finally decided to go to the ER to see if I could get something to help with the pain.

Sid and I went to the ER around noon and I eventually got to see a doctor. She was very nice; however I didn't think she had done much to examine me or see what the problem was. She did listen though as I described the pain and where it was most severe. She immediately said that it appeared to be a strained muscle; after asking if I knew how I had done that (and I said that I didn't) she asked if I had done a lot of driving lately. Of course I had and she said that that's probably what caused that strain.

The doctor ordered a shot of Toradol and a dose of flexeril which I was given soon after she left the exam room. She gave me a prescription for ultram a pain medication; I thought she had said she was giving me one for flexeril too but the nurse indicated that there was no prescription for that. The doctor told me to see my family doctor in two days which would be tomorrow. The doctor we see hardly ever sees anyone the same day (or so it seems when we call) but I will try. Perhaps if the pain is still there tomorrow she might give me a prescription for the flexeril which is a muscle relaxer.

Today the pain was not quite as severe but it still hurts a good bit. Turning my head brings a sharp pain in that area; lifting my arms aggravates the pain. So hopefully my doctor will help solve the problem completely. Since we have our trip to Alabama planned for this weekend I want to make sure I've done everything I can to alleviate that pain so I can drive comfortably.

Since it was the 4th yesterday we cooked hamburgers and fries for our supper. We didn't grill because it was just entirely too hot outside. The burgers were very good and we ate them in the coolness of the house. Today we used the left-over ground meat and I just smothered that for dinner. We had corn as a side dish so we were very satisfied.

For supper tonight Sid decided that he would use some Pizza Hut coupons for a pizza. He and Randi ate that but I got a Subway sandwich. I'm not a pizza person but I really enjoy the sandwiches at Subway so we were all satisfied.

We have been having all kinds of computer problems over the past week or so. For a while only my computer worked; later mine was the only one that did NOT work. We tried everything we could think of but nothing helped. Finally we called the Geek Squad from Best Buy and they said they could come on Sunday (today) so we made plans for that. The young man who came today Robert by name was very good. Right now ALL computers are working just fine. Robert said that at some point the password for our router was either taken off or something (which we didn't do 'cuz we would have no idea how to go about that) and I think this may have happened when our local computer guy came over. Although I think he's really good I think he may have been overwhelmed with having to work on FOUR computers. Anyway Robert took care of things and as of right now we are all enjoying being back on-line.

The summer vacation for Sid is rapidly passing with less than a month left. He still has lots he wants to do including working on the over-hang near our back porch. We want to put up some vinyl siding there but he has to see if there is a problem with rotting wood before going through all of that. Hopefully that will NOT be a problem and he can put up the vinyl. That would be easier to do AND it would be easier to keep up.

I spoke with Mom yesterday evening having tried to get in touch with her most of the day. Naturally I was getting worried but I contacted Rick and he had spoken with her so I knew she was ok. I still called again though and she was very happy to receive my call--as I was to hear for myself that she was fine. Her next appointment is on the 17th of this month so I'll have time to go on our trip return to the Cottage and then head back to Lockport for her appointment. This doctor used to come to Mathews using the offices of our regular eye doctor; however he has moved his practice to a different office in Thibodaux and one in Houma. So that we could keep the time and date we chose to go to the Thibodaux office so that's what we have to do on the 17th.

That's it for tonight. Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July and that you remembered to say a special prayer for those who gave their all so we could have the freedoms that we enjoy each and every day.

NOTE: We can get an idea; we can hope that it works; we can wish that it works. But until we DECIDE to do something to put that idea in action that's all it is--an idea. So light that match of decision--get those ideas working; accomplish whatever you want to accomplish. It's up to you!
