|HOT HOT HOT!|
Boy! It is hot! Nah! You didn't know that huh? Well just FYI it IS REALLY HOT!!! We haven't had rain in quite a while and I'm almost afraid to say that because that usually brings the rain in non-stop mode. Guess we'll just have take what we get and be grateful. But if REALLY IS HOT!!!!|
Yesterday was one of my "fast trips to Lockport" drives. Mom AND I had appointments with the podiatrist so I left here a little before nine for our 1:15 and 1:30 appointments in Houma. The doctor we saw was the same one who did Mom's toe amputation and he really is good. I had been seeing a different doctor whom I also liked but they do not take our insurance so....
Sid and I drove to Port Allen together and we had breakfast at Waffle House. As usual good food not-so-good atmosphere good prices decent waitress. After we finished I continued on to Lockport and Sid went to the Super Wal Mart to look for some new shirts. Unfortunately they only had ONE that he liked but he did get that one so we're one ahead.
I drove directly to Jess' house since I was a little early for Mom's appointment. Channie was very glad to see her 'old Gramma'--and I was happy to see her too--and Jess too of course. After visiting with them a very short time I left for Lockport and Mom's house. I had mentioned to her that I would pick her up around 12:15 and I arrived there right at that time. We left promptly and arrived at the doctor's office right at 1pm.
Now one would think that this was good!!! But oh no--they were out to lunch and would not be open until 1:15 (the exact time of Mom's appointment). So I had to get Mom back in the car (a real job believe me) and we sat there in the air conditioning to wait for the office to open. I checked once before 1:15--still closed; a little later it did open and we went inside. Mom was called in almost immediately and I brought her to a room. I on the other hand had paperwork to fill out for myself since this was my first visit there. No big deal--got it done and was soon in a room myself. In fact Mom was finishing as I was entering so she had to wait for me this time.
I had nothing major but I've had a toe nail problem for a while. The doctor checked my feet thoroughly and suggested that I not wait too long to take care of my knee problem (my right knee needs to be replaced) but that will have to be on my "to do" list. A medical assistance came in to cut my toe nails (I guess this is a little more than you cared to read about but that's what happened so...). She was excellent and did a fantastic job. I was given a presc
After our appointments Mom was thirst (and so was I) so we stopped at Wendy's to get something cold to drink. I suggested to Mom that she might want to try a Frosty which she agreed to do. After a very short period of time I noticed that she had devoured that treat so I can only assume she enjoyed it.
I brought Mom back to her house headed off to Jess' to pick up some foods that she had cooked for me to bring home--some shrimp/okra gumbo some chicken stew some potato salad and a cake. So far the cake is gone the stew was eaten last night (some still left) and the gumbo was supper tonight (some left). Thanks to Jess I didn't have to cook as soon as I walked in the door last night--AND tonight was equally relaxing.
Speaking of relaxing Sid and I went to BR to see a movie this morning--THE PROPOSAL with Sandra Bullock one of my favs--it was really good. I enjoyed it very much and Sid seemed OK with it. He doesn't enjoy movies very much unless it's science fiction or action stuff; besides it costs to see movies and he'd rather buy the DVD; however he rarely watches the ones we buy so what are you gonna do!
When we got back home it was still VERY VERY HOT so he did not go out as he had planned to do work outdoors. I hate seeing him out there even though I know he takes care to drink a lot and wears the proper clothing but it is really not a good idea to be out in that sun so much. According to the weather report the temperature was supposed to FEEL like 107 degrees as you walked out the door. Unbelievable!
I spent a good portion of today on the phone trying to get an address from AT&T where I could send in a complimentary report about someone who worked in their Thibodaux office. Never did get that address--nobody seemed to understand what I was talking about at first but then they did truly try to help me. Unfortunately they couldn't so I have a call in to the office to which I went yesterday and hopefully they'll be able to help me.
My reason for going there is because I was trying to find out if it would be possible to get a printed copy of the manual to accompany my new phone. I told the young lady that AT&T had been very helpful but that SAMSUNG the company that manufactures my new phone was seemingly unreachable. The young lady got on the computer and tried her best to help.
Suddenly I noticed that papers were flying out of her printer and realized that she was printing a copy of the manual for me. That manual from start to finish consists of 201 pages. You read that correctly! 201 pages!!! And the entire thing was printed for me while I waited. I certainly did not expect them to do that but the young lady AND her manager did that for me--and DID NOT CHARGE ME ONE CENT for that. Think they deserve some special recognition? I sure do--and I will continue to look for the means to do that. I've heard some negative comments about AT&T since they took over Cingular but that has definitely NOT been my experience.
Tonight I ask for prayers for my Aunt Hazel who is in critical condition at a hospital near her home tonight. She is my Mom's youngest sister and has been in ill health for many years. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
That's it for tonight! Have a great evening and a super tomorrow!
QUOTE: "Regardless of your lot in life you can build something beautiful on it."
NOTE: Another good one in my view. It emphasizes the idea of positive thinking and that is something I strongly espouse. No matter what our state not matter what our finances no matter what our physical condition no matter what---WE choose what to do with our lives. It might not be the perfect life the life we might have planned under different circumstances but it's OUR LIFE and I don't know about you but I LOVE my life--it's beautiful and filled with love. What more could I ask? So go ahead--build a beautiful life. You can do it! And you should!
