Well Folks we're here at Oak Alley--no phone no tv but we do have internet access so... I wasn't going to write tonight but what they hey! Might as well do that while we are just relaxing here in our cottage at this beautiful spot. We arrived here just a little before 3pm which was check-in time. No problem though. We wandered around the gift shop while waiting for a young lady driving a golf cart to lead us to our cottage. Didn't take long and we had fun looking around the shop. When we got here the young lady showed us things in the cottage gave us our key and told us to be sure to let them know if we had any problems. None so far! After she left we checked the fridge and found our food there just as they told us it would be. When it was time for supper we heated everything that needed to be heated added some cucumbers that Bess gave us before we left to the salad that came with our meal and enjoyed everything we had ordered--chicken fricassee crawfish etouffee salads bread and the drinks we had brought. Our dessert came later and was also very good. The people here provide games for their visitors should they want to do that. We chose to watch some old Cagney and Lacey tv programs that I had purchased a while back. It was such fun to look back at those reliving the memories and the music from that show. It was one of my favorites at that time and they seemed just as fresh tonight. Tomorrow we'll have breakfast here before going to Lockport. That comes with the gift certificate and we look forward to that part of the trip too. Obviously this is a short one but you can see that we're having fun here and enjoying the peace and quiet of this beautiful plantation home and grounds. I'll definitely have more to write about when we get to our REAL Cottage on Friday! |
