Rain rain and more rain--but nicer temperatures for most of the day. Actually right after a shower it feels like we're in a spa but it soon cools off a little and that makes it just about right. But then here comes another shower--and it has been going on like that for a couple of days. From what I read and hear it'll be going on for several more days as well. Yesterday Randi and I decided to have lunch at Morel's since she will be leaving this weekend. We watched a boat being launched and one being put back on its trailer and of course we watched the ducks playing in the river. Eating in that restaurant besides providing a good meal always is relaxing. The people there are so nice and the view cannot be beat (unless you have a meal at Satterfield's where you can even eat on the porch which overlooks False River). While waiting for our food my "friend" Darryl one of the waiters there came over to inquire if I was a professional photographer. Of course I am not but like I told him I always have my camera handy just in case I see something that I want to capture and share. I actually took one of Darryl so I'll have to print that one and bring it to him next time I go there. I also took several candid shots of Randi and really liked several of them. Today Sid Randi and I went to Baton Rouge to complete our traditional outings with Randi. When she visits especially if it's for more than a couple of days we always have one meal at Piccadilly's Restaurant so we planned to do that today. Before going there though we went on a couple of other errands one of which was to Home Depot to look for a picnic bench that Sid saw advertised. Unfortunately they didn't have that so we were not successful on this errands. We then went to the Super Wal Mart located in the Mall Circle the Mall being Cortana Mall on Airline Highway. We went specifically to get a gift card for Carla's son who graduated this year; while there we also got a couple of items that we needed. Those errands done we headed off to Piccadilly. The waitress we had was most helpful. She kept checking on us and making sure that we had everything we needed. She actually carried my tray for me when I joked that she was going too far away and the tray was heavy. She took that tray from me and said that she wanted us to be in her section which was fine with me. Previous experience there made me know that we were in good hands with Gala. Our next stop was SAM's--we needed to get some of the gallon containers of water and we also got a couple of cases of the bottles. This time I actually planned ahead and brought out ice chest just in case we purchased items that needed refrigeration--and we did. We also were able to get a gift for our little Emma who graduated from Kindergarten this year. We are very proud of Emma and all she has accomplished in school. Speaking of school and accomplishments we have three grandchildren who attend Holy Savior (my Alma Mater and where I taught for many years--and Sid also taught there when we were first married). Tyler and Carly are in 6th grade and both of them made the Principal's List--4.0 averages. Great job! Rett made the Faculty List and we are proud of him as well. I'm not sure what the average is for that list but I'm sure it required some effort to attain. Grat job by all of the kids; we are proud of each of them. We're expecting Bec to arrive here late tomorrow to pick up Randi. Ordinarily she would be staying a little longer but remember--Sid and I are going on our over-nighter at Oak Alley this coming week and though we love her a lot she cannot come with us there. This is a chance for us to get away from our routine even if only for a day and we intend to make the most of it. We have to remember to order our food the day before we go because the restaurant is closed by check-in time. Apparently visitors must order their food the day before; it is cooked and put in the fridge; we will heat it up for supper the night we are staying there. I'll let you know how that turns out. Ty and Rett are participating in a tournament this weekend. So far they have won their two games played today; tomorrow it's a double elimination contest so they'll probably be there most of the day. Good luck to them and their team! Carly has been very busy getting ready for her dance recital. I can't remember how many years she has been involved with this but it's since she was very little. She had practice today and has her dress rehearsal next Saturday with the recital being on next Sunday. Because of all the trips we're making this week (we'll be in Lockport for the school's Awards Ceremony on Friday) and to be completely honest because those recitals seem to last for hours we will probably not be in attendance. As someone who enjoys watching the grandkids do whatever they do I hate missing that; however it starts after lunch and lasts well into the late afternoon far too long for us. If we could be there for Carly's dances and then leave that would be fine but the dances are spread through the program and well..... I'm sure she understands and I know she'll do a great job. Good luck to you Carly! Joey and Beau will be getting back to Colorado tomorrow evening. Please pray for their safe return! That's it for tonight! Hope you have a wonderful evening and can enjoy the rest of the weekend with family. QUOTE: "The way you see your future determines your thinking today. Your thinking today determines your performance today. Your performance in the todays of your life determines your future." --Zig Ziglar NOTE: See think do become--that summarizes this quote to me. It reminds me of another quote that a friend cross-stitched for me when I retired as Director of Religious Education in our parish--"Without dreams there is no need to work; without work there is no need to dream." Our dreams determine our work determines our future--and that's what it's all about. So dream you greatest dream--and work your hardest work--and your future will be what you dreamed it would be! |
