A huge success! That's how I would describe our supper tonight. I had never cooked beef Stroganoff "from scratch" and decided to take a recipe from a new crock pot cookbook that I just got to try that. It really turned out good! The recipe I had called for cream of mushroom soup AND a pound of sliced mushrooms. Since neither Sid nor I care for mushrooms I decided to omit the sliced mushrooms from the recipe but kept the soup. It also called for some sour cream to be added after everything was cooked everything being stew meat cut into cubes onions salt pepper garlic the soup and water. I followed the directions and ended up with a delicious beef Stroganoff to be served over egg noodles. YUMMY! While I was cooking the main part of the meal I decided to slice up some onions and zucchini to cook in a skillet with a little butter. When that was done I decided that it needed a little something so I added a can of petite pois just for fun. Well Folks it worked--I think the peas added flavor to the zucchini and onions and the onions/zucchini added flavor to the peas. Delicious! The computer repair man came over this morning to check out my computer problems. It seems that most of the problems I'm having stem from my AOL so he removed the program and re-installed it. So far the problems seem to have lessened although I am still having some of them--EXTREMELY aggravating! I really think that the problem is being caused by the VISTA program AND my AOL program neither of which I am ready to give up just yet. VISTA is there to stay on my computer as far as I know; if AOL continues to give me problems I will stop that and go with another browser or whatever it's called. Sandie and I had a nice long chat today with me calling her mainly to let her know that the eye doctor's office had called with a reminder about Mom's appointment tomorrow. Of course I knew that Sandie would remember but I still called. That gave us a chance to chat for a little while. Her son had his PFT yesterday (pulmonary function test) and had not gotten the results when they spoke last; however since he was extremely congested when he took the test I'm sure they'll want to do it again. I think one of their purposes was to check for asthma but who knows. Hopefully the results of this test will get him the proper care to get his strength back and his breathing problems alleviated. Today is Wednesday so we have only a couple of more days before we head off to Alabama. I can't wait to see Aunt Nin even though I know she won't recognize either of us I'm sure. It'll be fun getting to see Reid and his family too and we plan to do some "eating out" together something we haven't done in years. The weather today was rainy but I never heard it falling. In fact I didn't know it had rained until I went out to make sure the doors were unlocked when Sid would arrive home. The driveway and carport were pretty wet so it must have been a pretty good shower. Hopefully our trip to AL will be rain-free! Today is our son Steven's birthday. We hope he had a wonderful day and that his coming year is filled with health happiness and all things good. We love you Steve. It is also the birthday of my SIL Lisa and we wish her a good day as well. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Steve and Lisa--may you "share" many more! (NOTE: It is also the birthday of the computer repair man--so Happy Birthday Mr. Martin.) Not much else to chat about so I'll wish you a wonderful evening and a terrific Thursday. QUOTE: "It's not your position in life; it's the disposition you have which will change your position." --Dr. David McKinley NOTE: Having worked in several different schools and offices in my TWO careers I can vouch for this one. Looking at this from the outside I know that it is much more fun to work with people whose dispositions are kind pleasant and helpful people who make working with them a happy experience. And I would imagine when the "bosses" look around their workplaces they prefer to see happy people in there people who affect others and are affected by others in a positive way. So SMILE--it's contagious--it REALLY is! |
