Josh, Leah, Cam, and Brynn are on their way here for their Christmas visit. It's been a while since we saw them and a much longer time since his siblings have seen all of them. I just spoke with Cam and they're in Oklahoma City right now, hoping to get to Dallas tonight so they can rest up for the rest of their journey. Can't wait to see them!

Sid went to Lockport today to attend the birthday party for a friend of ours who reached the ripe old age of 80. Since both of us have taught at Holy Savior with Ed and his wife, Gloria, for many years, it's hard to believe that they're closer in age to my Mom than they are to us, but that's the truth of it. Believe it or not, Gloria was my French teacher at Holy Savior for a few months, something I hadn't thought of in a very long time. Being on the same faculty with them makes one forget the difference in age. Amazing!

Anyway, I stayed home because I was really tired after my quick to Lockport and because I wanted to get things ready for Josh and his family's arrival. Sid said that most of their kids were there with their families and lots of other folks that we know from our association with Ed and Gloria were there as well. Even our former pastor, Fr. Foley, attended the party, so Sid enjoyed seeing a number of our old friends.

Since I knew Sid couldn't get back in time for Mass this evening, I just went on by myself. That really seems strange these days because we always go together. In fact, one of our "church friends" asked me where he was--they are not used to seeing either of us alone. We are creatures of habit, that's for sure.

When Sid got home, we went to SUBWAY for sandwiches and stopped at Morel's to pick up a jar of salad dressing made by one of their cooks. I LOVE that dressing, and I get a jar every now and again.

Tomorrow, I'll be getting up and starting my spaghetti so that the kids/grandkids will have something to eat when they get here. During the first part of the week, I'll be getting the ingredients for my various foods for Christmas dinner. I spoke with Jan this morning, and she will cook some chicken quarters so I won't have to cook quite as much. We've decided on chicken rather than turkey this time, so I'll be baking some chicken pieces here while Jan cooks what she has out there. I'll also cook a roast, some aspargus rolls (per everyone's request), cole slaw, and will make a fruit salad when I get to Gheens. Of course, everyone out there is cooking something, too, so there will be plenty food to satisfy everyone's desires, I'm sure.

Sid will be leaving around 8:45 to spend his hour at the Adoration Chapel, so I'll keep myself busy here. Not much else is going on tonight, so....

Have a great evening and a super Sunday!

QUOTE: Christmas - that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance - a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved. --Augusta E. Rundel

NOTE: Wear your "blanket of Christmas" proudly--remember Christmases past while looking forward to Christmases future, AND enjoy your Christmas present with all your heart and soul. Show love to all with whom you come in contact, most especially those who hold a special place in your hearts. Remember--love is best present you can give OR received! May you be blessed with love in abundance, and may your Christmas provide the surest sign of the Birth of Jesus that you have ever experienced. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
