A mundane day!

My Picture

Riding on the 4-wheeler ended our day today; getting lunch at Kelly's began our day.  So, let's see if I can fill in the middle of the day with a few items.

First of all, I think Randi has been waiting for today since Wednesday, the day we got a menu from Kelly's meat market.  She saw the shrimp stew was the dinner today, and she REALLY likes that.  So, that's what we had for lunch.  It was pretty good, and the seasoning was really hot.  Along with the stew, they served corn and a dinner roll.  For a little bit extra, fried fish could also be added.  We decided to add the fish to one of the meals and we would share it--so that's what we did.

This afternoon was pretty quiet.  We watched a little tv, fooled around on the computer, and just relaxed while waiting for Sid to return from school.  When he did, we began preparing supper.

Yesterday, when he bought the t-bones from Kelly's, he also purchased some sausage--a beef/pork sausage and an onion sausage.  Until tonight, when I started to cook it, I didn't realize that it was "smoked" sausage rather than what we call "butcher" sausage.  I LOVE butcher sausage, but I do not like smoked sausage at all.  Anyway, I prepared that for Sid and Randi to go along with the white beans that I cooked during the day.  For myself, I heated the left-over t-bone from last night (it was just as good today as it was then).  So, supper was OK.

Before supper, we decided to take a ride on the 4-wheeler, so Sid took Randi out first.  Then, he and I took a ride, where we saw NOTHING.  The deer have been very scarce lately, and we just haven't seen much of anything out there; however, AFTER supper, when we decided to take another ride, we saw a couple of raccoons running in the orchard on Bess' side.  I managed to get a picture of one that was climbing in the tree.  When we first saw them, we weren't sure what they were; then, we saw the striped tail, and VOILA--the raccoons.  I would have preferred to see deer, but these little guys were really cute, too.

Tonight, Sid is grading papers, trying his best NOT to leave that until Sunday night, which is usually what happens.  Since we're hoping to have company tomorrow, I guess he didn't want to have that hanging over his shoulders.  That pleases me a lot!  LOL  We always tease him about "being his mother's son" because BOTH of them were terrible procrastinators.  He is doing better this school year, but we have a ways to go yet.

I spoke with Mom today, just to check on how she was feeling.  She didn't sound very good, but she did say that she wasn't in as much pain as yesterday.  Paul was back home, so I felt better about that.

Channie is doing better with her cold, and Jess will bring her back to the doctor next week.  At that time, she should find out if a tonsillectomy is in order or not.

At the end of next week, I'll be heading over to Lockport again, this time for several appointments of my own.  No problems for me, but the docs insist on visiting them in order to get prescriptions renewed, and I have to do that, so....  I'll also get my hair cut at that time.

As you can see, I've been writing here just to fill up space.  One day, many years in the future, I guess I'll look back on these entries and see that although we didn't do much, our lives were full--sometimes full of activities, sometimes full of not much, sometimes full of dreams.  No matter, writing here has become a habit, and if I don't write something, I feel like the day isn't complete.

TIMING:  "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:  a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted."                      --Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

NOTE:  ...and a time to write in my journal even if the day was filled with my mundane goings-on.
