Busy little bees today!

My Picture
A busy day--errands, errands, errands--and I hate running errands; however, things had to be done, so Randi and I did them.  It's a lot more fun running errands when you have an "errand mate" with you, don't you think?

Do you ever get your bank statement with a bunch of extra papers in them?  Do you read all those papers?  Well, I don't, especially since I pretty much check my bank balance via the Internet.  Last month, we should have--and I say WE because Sid usually opens the statement even though I just deal with the info on the computer.

A few months ago, when I went to the bank for something (can't remember what at this moment), they offered a different type of checking account whereby you can earn a much bigger interest rate IF you use the check card at least ten times during the month.  Well, that may not seem like much to you, but Sid and I are technologically challenged, so we rarely used that card, except at the ATM.  But, for that big increase in interest, we decided that we could learn the process--and we did--and it was definitely worth the effort.

On Saturday, we received our bank statement, and the interest was MUCH lower than it has been for the past several months.  What was the problem?  Today, I found out!  In one of those papers with our statement, in very small print, it stated that FIFTEEN uses were necessary to activate that higher interest.  Who knew?  Who read?  Who cared what those papers said?  Well, now we care.  After talking with the rep and indicating that we had not read the papers (I didn't lie about it) and telling her that the print was far too small anyway, she said that the bank was giving a one-time opportunity to request payment of a month's interest that was not given--do I look stupid?  I agreed immediately, so we will get the missed interest (especially since we had used the card FOURTEEN times).  Will be read the papers from now on?  You betcha!

We had also received a notice a week or so ago that one of our bank cards might have been compromised.  We really were glad that they noticed that; we received a new card on Saturday; however, we only received one--Sid and I are used to doing TWO of just about everything, so we were afraid to use the other card--just in case.  Anyway, the rep at the bank looked into the matter and assured me that we would have no problem with the second card.  Mission accomplished!

When Randi and I had finished our errands at the bank, we went to W/M to get my meds filled.  It would take about 30 minutes, so we went to W/D in the meantime, for just one or two items.  Yeah, right!  We ended up buying some pork chops (not on the list), some tomatoes (not on the list), some fruits (not on the list), and actually managed to get the things ON the list.  I decided to prepare our so-called pork chop dish for supper tonight, along with some smothered corn (using the salt meat that WAS on the list).  Yummy!!!!  Everything was delicious, and we even have a little left for Sid to take for his lunch tomorrow.  My kind of meal---

Randi installed the Yahoo Messenger on Sid's computer today.  She has really learned a lot about that stuff, and she's a lot braver than I am when it comes to experimenting.  Now, she and her Dad can IM again while he's working on the boat.  She is very happy about that, and I'm sure he is as well.

We have begun working on our Thanksgiving schedule, with Joey and Beau arriving on Thanksgiving Day.  We'll have our special meal on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which, of course, means that we won't have everyone there.  Hopefully, we'll get to see the absentees for Christmas, even though we know that Joey and Beau won't be able to attend our festivities at that time.  I won't be too greedy--Thanksgiving will bring Joey and Beau; Christmas will bring Josh, Leah, and their kids.  I'll take that!

That's it for this evening.  Hope you have a restful night and a great week.

HEARTFELT BLESSING:  "If you wanted to give a dozen oranges to your neighbor as an expression of love, you would need to be in possession of 12 oranges.  If you intended to purchase a new automobile for your parents to show your gratitude to them for putting you through medical school, you'd need to have the funds to do so.  Likewise, you can't give love away to others if you don't have love for yourself.  You can't show respect for others if you lack self-respect.  You can't give happiness away if you feel unhappy."                                  --Wayne Dyer

NOTE:  Giving--so simple, really!  We must possess what we hope to give away.  I can't give away someone else's possessions.  To love others, we need to love ourselves; you want to give respect, respect yourself; you want you give away smiles and laughter, we happy yourself.  How easy is that!  So, love yourself, respect yourself, be happy yourself--and then give it away!  It'll come back in a number too vast to count!
