So, I took a break last night--I just was feeling a little under-the-weather and decided not to write in my journal. But, I did have a couple of things to write about, so here I go--- First of all, I saw a couple of deer in the woods during one of our rides in the past couple of days. I may have mentioned that before, noting that I couldn't take pictures because they just moved too fast for me. They seemed to be slightly small, so perhaps they were youngsters. In any case, it was good to see them since we hadn't seen any in quite a while. At least we know they're still around--and I just love seeing them prancing around in the woods (when they decide to let us share that). Bess and Nathan had called the other day to see if would like to have supper with them at DON's on Sunday. Of course, we certainly would have done that; however, they talked about using their coupons, and the coupons are only good from Monday-Thursday, so that wouldn't have been possible. Anyway, yesterday morning, as we took another ride to the back; we saw them working in the yard and decided to see if they might possibly want to go anyway. Since they were cleaning up their back yard and had some workers there as well, they pretty much said they just didn't feel like stopping too early for that, so.... Later on, the rains came, and we received a call from them saying that perhaps we could go after all. We agreed on a time (around 5:30pm) and that they would pick us up for the trip there. And that's what happened. There weren't nearly as many folks there as usual, but that didn't matter to us. I had called to make sure they were open and that the curfew in that area had been lifted. The answer to both questions was YES, so we went. Bess and I love the tilapia, so that's what we got. Sid and Nathan got fried fish with the fries to accompany that. Randi wanted oysters, but they were out, so she "settled" for fried soft-shelled crabs. As you might imagine, we had left-overs, and we just finished eating that tonight. Sid made some of his hush puppies to goalong with our meal. Anything made with cornmeal is not a favorite of mine; however, the hush puppies at DON's are terrific, and Sid's ones come pretty close. Sid was back at school again today, as were our grand kids in Lafourche Parish. There are still some problems with flooding out there, and even Jess' office was unreachable. Their patients were sent to their Thibodaux office for treatment, so they were well tended to. I think Jess will work in Thibodaux tomorrow. Bec was supposed to go to work today as well, but we haven't heard from her to confirm that. I'm sure Randi will get a message from her tonight at some point. Tomorrow, I call Mom's cardiologist's office to make sure that her procedure is still scheduled for Thursday. Hopefully, they'll be able to give me a definite answer to that question. If she doesn't have the procedure, we'll have to figure some way to get Randi back home--I know she misses her Mom and siblings, so we'll have to work something out for her. She'll be back here soon, I'm sure, but she needs to spend time in her own space. Josh called last night, and we had a nice long chat. Everything out there is fine, including Leah's new job. The kids have started school and seem to like their new surroundings and their new teachers. Good luck to all of them. Can't wait for Christmas to see all of you. Sid and Randi are out for a ride right now. I'm sure that he'll want me to take one as well, so I'll finish this up right now. I'll be back tomorrow, unless I'm not!!! Have a great week!
