My Picture
Here I am, sitting at my computer at Jess' house, listening to the rain, thunder, and seeing lightning on occasion.  I just drove back from Houma--yes, Randi and I were "wild and crazy women" and drove there in terrible weather to eat at IHOP, and it was worth it--noting that since we left Gheens this morning, ditches are now flooded and ducks are swimming in the yards of many homes around here.  Unbelievable!

Sid is having his first day of classes with his students today.  His schedule is as follows (with changes always possible):

1st period (and homeroom)--Algebra I--15 students

2nd period--Advanced Math--23

3rd period--Advanced Math--16

4th period--off (hopefully)

5th period--Calculus--16

6th period--Algebra I--27

7th period--Algebra II--20

This will be a busy year, but having the so-called "advanced" classes usually makes it more enjoyable for him.  I pray that this is the case again this year.

I've been here in the home stomping grounds since yesterday.  I took Mom to her appointment for TWO tests--Randi came with us, and, as usual, was a big help.  Mom's first test was to test papillary perfusion in her feet (Stanilase--sp?).  We were told that there is some perfusion there, which is good, but it is not great.  Should she develop any kind of sore or injury, there seems to be enough circulation to help with healing.

The CT scan was done afterwards, about 45 minutes afterwards.  It took four attempt to get a IV line set up for the dye.  The test itself took only 10 minutes, but, of course, we got no results on that one.  That will be forthcoming on the 25th of this month, with further explanation of the previous test as well, I'm sure.

I was able to see Bec for a very few minutes yesterday, and I spoke with Cade, Ashton, and Ryan about the start of the school year, wishing all of them good luck.  Ty and Rett were here, so I spoke with them as well.  I didn't get to speak with Carly, but I left a message with her Mom to give her our good wishes.  This year will be a BIG CHANGE for Cade and Ashton, leaving the confines of very small schools to enter the public high school here, Central Lafourche High--a huge school compared to what they're used to.  Hope all goes well for all of our grand kids.

More when I get back home.  Tonight, I'll be babysitting Channie while her Mom and Dad attend a concert with Tyler and a young friend.  I hope the weather is good enough for them to travel to New Orleans and to return safely.

Have a great weekend!  I'll be back home tomorrow and will up-date you on all our goings-on.

"An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know.  It's being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don't know."            --Anatole France

NOTE:  Some of us never are truly educated, thinking we know so much more than we actually do.  Our learning should NEVER cease; we are always 'continuing to become' the person we were destined to be.  NEVER stop becoming!
