My Picture

Am I having problems with my computer?  Yes, I am!!!  I'll try to see if the problem resolves itself before I finish my entry, but.....

Randi seems to be feeling better today, but I got word that Jan is sick with strep throat.  Lance is recovering from the same thing, and Channie is back at school after a bout with an ear infection.  WOW!  What's going on out there in Lockport?  Anyway, except for Jan, it seems that all the sick folk are improving--and I pray that Jan will be soon as well.

I had mentioned a couple of days ago that Randi and I were considering heading to BR for a movie--well, today was the day.  We went to the RAVE theater near the Mall of Louisiana and saw MAMMA MIA, with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and others.  I really enjoyed that, mainly, I think, because it brought back memories of my youth, when we would see a musical at the local theater almost every weekend.  That was the extent of what we could do in our little town, and all of us "kids" would get together and walk to the theater--Fridays were for the westerns with the weekly serial; Sundays were for other movies, usually musicals.

Although I had never heard either Meryl Streep or Pierce Brosnan sing, I think they did an excellent job.  Sandie said she didn't think his voice was great, and I agree with that; however, I did think he did a very good job, especially when you consider that this is NOT his comfort zone.  And as for Meryl Streep, I just wish I had half the energy she exhibited in this movie.  WOW!  She was jumping and dancing and running and singing and---whew!  I'm tired just repeating in words what she did.  As you might guess, we enjoyed the movie.

When we got back, Sid took Randi on a ride to the woods, after which we relaxed until we could leave for AJ'sAJ's????  What is that you are asking yourself?  Well, this is a teeny little restaurant located on what the locals call "the island" here in New Roads.  I think it must be a trailer, and an old one at that, but it was cozy and comfortable.  There's a bar as you enter the building and a little eating area on the back part of the trailer.  There are only about 8 or 9 tables in there (we were the only ones there tonight), but the service was very good.  The food was good, too, though it can't really be compared to you-know-where.  Prices were average for the food we got:  grilled catfish for me, fried catfish for Sid, cheeseburger/bacon for Randi.  And, of course, the salads, baked potatoes, cheese sticks (Randi's favorite), and other veggies.  Next time, I want to try a steak!

Our lawn mower was picked up today, but we weren't told when it would be returned.  Since it appears that the problem is only a belt, it shouldn't take long to repair, but we've come to expect the unexpected at that place.  Thank goodness we mowed the front with the tractor.

Speaking of the tractor, all of the grass in the middle and back orchards as well as the area near the woods has been mowed and baled already.  The area that we were keeping up for Weze has also been mowed and baled.  These guys are fantastic!  Now, all we have to keep up is the front orchard and, of course, our front and back yards.  This will be much more manageable money-wise--as well as time-wise.

That's it for tonight!  Hope you had a good day and that the rest of the week finds you enjoying all things good.

NOTE:  Did you every stop to think that just one minute ago is gone, no longer part of our lives except as a memory?  Take this new moment, then, and begin a bright new tomorrow.
