Yesterday was an odd day--not much going on in one sense, but a whole lot going on in another. So, I decided NOT to put in an entry last night, waiting to see if today would provide more fodder for an entry. Oh, well--let's see if that's the case. On awakening yesterday morning, I was greeted with an unexpected sight--Randi sitting at her computer and looking very glum. When I asked what was wrong, she indicated that she was having lots of pain in her right ear. Oh, no--not another earring problem! It wasn't that, but I could tell she was in a good bit of pain, so I figured that we'd have to see the doctor in the BACH clinic once again. Since this is a "first come, first served" clinic with no appointments required, I got dressed and we took off for the clinic. Except for one other patient, we were IT at that moment. I filled in the necessary papers and we sat for what seemed like just a minute or two before we were called in. The regular doctor wasn't there, but the man taking his place was very nice. He checked her ears and found that she had an infection in her ear canal, probably caused from swimming. She is presently on ear drops to clear that infection, and he said to give her Tylenol/Motrin for any pain she might be having. It looks like things are improving, so that's good. We really didn't do much else yesterday because neither Sid nor I felt very well. He did so much work with the cement that I think he either got dehydrated or just plain ached from the heavy lifting he did. He finally finished breaking up all the cement that was left near where the trailer was, but moving it from there to where it will be used was difficult. I suggested that he take off today and try to recuperate from all his work of yesterday, including taking in a lot more fluids to re-hydrate himself. For some reason, I just didn't feel up to par, perhaps due in large measure to a large sigh of relief after having taken the follow-up tests while in Lockport. I think I was more worried that I actually believed, and just knowing that everything was OK affected me more than I thought. I actually took a long nap in the guest room (I can put the a/c on as cold as it can get and have the fans blowing as well--which is how I like to sleep) and even napped a little more in my chair later. I had not slept well for a couple of nights, worrying about this test, but I did finally get a good night's rest last night. So, I think BOTH of us are recovering from whatever it is we had--thank You, Lord! Today, we decided to have breakfast at DQ--so we did. Sid met one of his former students and introduced me to him. I found the young man to be very personable and talkative. According to Sid, this young man was very bright but tended to be a "rebel" of sorts. Anyway, he seems to be doing fine and is attending a near-by vocational school. This morning, Bess stopped by for a brief visit. Without going into great detail, let me just say that she feels that she witnessed a miracle at Mass, one which involved a grand-nephew who spoke about his trip to Steubenville, Ohio with a group of young people and a few adults from the Youth Club here at St. Mary's. He was apparently very moved by his experience and indicated that his life has been altered by what he saw, heard, and experienced there. I pray that this life-changing experience is a permanent one for him! Randi and I did NOT go to the movies yesterday due to all the problems we had with illnesses, but we're still thinking about it. Perhaps we can go tomorrow--more on that later. Weze stopped by for a visit yesterday, too. It's always nice to see her and to catch up on the goings-on in her life. She spent the night with Bess and returned home this morning. Sid and I took a nice long ride on the 4-wheeler this morning, and despite the heat, we enjoyed it very much. It's been a while since we were able to go into the woods, and because Sid mowed a path from one end of the woods to the other, we were able to get in there today. The guy who makes hay on our property is doing that today, so we'll be able to get a lot more riding done over the next few days, I'm sure. I'm not too big on riding in areas where the grass is taller than we are on the 4-wheeler, but with the path Sid made, I have no problem going in there. He'll probably be taking Randi for another ride there this afternoon. That's it for today! Hope you are having a great day and that the coming week (the last week of vacation before school starts for most of the folks I know) finds you prepared for school and enjoying your families before the kids get "back to the grind" of schoolwork. HEARTFELT BLESSING: "Alice laughed: 'There's no use trying,' she said. 'One can't believe impossible things.' 'I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. 'When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'" --Lewis Carroll (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) NOTE: Try this! It's fun AND who knows when the impossible will become the possible. Remember this: Lots of things considered to be "science fiction" when we were growing up have become "science FACT" during our lifetimes. Even "impossible dreams" can bless our lives if we let them. Your own vision and belief can change the impossible into the possible. DREAM ON!!! |
