A trip to Piccadilly--and rain!

Boy!  I'm writing this awfully late tonight, but two of favorite programs were on tonight--THE CLOSER and SAVING GRACE!  Had to watch them, of course, but now I'm ready to write about our day.

First of all, Sid had a doctor's appointment this morning.  No, he isn't sick, but he's been trying to schedule a test for months and finally had the time to do it.  Naturally, though, they scheduled the test exactly when he said he DIDN'T want it, during the first week of school.  The nurse really didn't have a choice since he wanted it ASAP, but the place where he will be going didn't have any openings before school started, so....  He called to cancel that one and tried to reschedule for during the Thanksgiving holidays.  Well, you know the problem there--the books aren't open yet for that time, so he'll have to call again during September for an appointment in November.  What a mess!  He'll get it done, though, so that's what's important.

By the time he got back from the appointment, it was time to start planning our dinner; we decided to take a trip to Piccadilly's, even though we usually don't go that far unless we have something else to do.  This time, though, it was just for dinner, and we really enjoyed that little time together.  He planned to work on the carport later today, after the sun went down somewhat.  Well, the best laid plans, etc.---

After we had been home a little while, the clouds, which we had noticed for a couple of hours, decided to share their bounty--yep, the rains came down.  It didn't last long, but it messed up his plans for working.  That's OK, though, 'cuz it gave him a little break, and we could enjoy the rest of the day just relaxing.  Tomorrow--it's back to work!

Supper tonight consisted of using our wok to cook some chicken strips (chunks, really) with some onions and green peppers.  We love using our wok, something I've wanted for a long time but didn't get until Sid and I visited with Josh and Joey in Colorado a while back.  I have really used that thing, and I love how quickly foods cook in there.  Along with some tomatoes and cucumbers, supper was delicious.

The rest of our evening was spent watching our special shows, although Sid did leave the tv room for a while and I think watched one of his math DVD's in the guest room.  I am so glad we have a DVD player in there, 'cuz I don't think I could handle having to be in the same room as a lesson in math.  No way!!!  Anyway, though, I'm glad he can do that in that room, and he doesn't mind, so it works out just perfectly.

Today is our daughter Becky's birthday!!!  Our first born entered this world in 1965 (I know--I shouldn't say her age, but I am so proud of all of our children and their ages don't even come to mind most of the time--except to remind me how old I AM).  As I said on her card, which had a star bursting in the sky, she truly added a star to our heaven when she arrived in our lives, as did all our other children; Becky was our first, though, and that is when our lives as husband and wife really took a different turn.  Sid and I love each other very much, and each of our children has just made that love grow and grow, and since Becky started our little family, I just wanted to make sure that she received our very best wishes for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and a year filled with all things good.  We love you, Bec!  Hope you had a wonderful day today!

Bec sent us some pictures of the kids on their vacation.  I'll try to put them up tomorrow or the next day.  By then, I'm sure I will have received more of them from Bec.

My cousin, Di, called last night to thank me for her birthday card.  You may remember me speaking of Di a lot during the time that her Mom, my NanNan, was ill.  Di, my cousin Reid, my sister Silvia, and I grew up together as little ones.  I love all my cousins, but these two always did hold a special place in my heart, mainly, I guess, because we shared so much of our lives when we were little.  Reid moved away to the far distant land of Westwego (those reading this who are not from Louisiana have no idea where that is, but the rest of know that it really isn't thatfar--it's just that when we were little, he seemed extremely far away), but Di stayed around her old stomping grounds.  Hope your day was great, too, Di.  Hope to see you before too long!

Since not much happened today, I'll stop here.  Hope you have a wonderful evening and a terrific tomorrow.

HEARTFELT BLESSING:  "When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself."                     --Wayne Dyer

NOTE:  When you think of someone you really dislike, what happens to you?  You begin to frown, your posture changes, your eyes get dull.  When you think of someone you really like, all of that changes--you smile, your eyes light up, you stand straight and tall.       The first instance shows you as a judge; the second shows you filled with love.  This is how we are defined.  Which definition of you do you prefer?  I know which one I like--may you always be defined by love.
