My mother was an old fashioned Southern Girl. She was very strict. She had some opinions some folks would really frown on but she had a point. I am after all, my mother’s daughter. Momma would tell you in a minute that women deserved to be treated better then men simply because we were better. Man may have been created first but woman was the new and improved model of humans. She felt that if men were all that tough, God would have designed them to be the ones to give birth to the future generations. Men can no longer claim to be the hunters and protectors because women are doing that too. She felt that women were smarter then men. Show me a man that can walk up to a door, stop and have someone open the door for him. I do it all the time and it works every time. With all the talk of equal rights a woman can still be treated like a lady if she acts like one. She also taught me to do the best I can at anything I do. It takes twice as long to correct a mistake as it does to do it right the first time. Learn to recognize your limitations. A woman will stop and ask for help. She won’t hesitate to call in an expert then to waste time on a lost cause. She has other important things to do. Its better to have an expert fix something and have it done right the first time. Men seem to like to run around in a maze. Men will waste valuable time and money repeating the same mistakes over and over again. They will only ask for assistance when they are really desperate. Electricians, mechanics and plumbers make most of their money from men’s efforts to repair things. I guess its just a "man thing" to tear something apart but have you noticed very garage in the nation has a box or drawer of left over parts from attempts to put things back together. I wonder where all those extra parts came from? Momma also felt that a woman should always look and act like a lady. She wouldn’t wear slacks outside the home, never smoked in public. God Forbid if she would drink from a can or a bottle. She always had to have a glass. Women could do almost anything a man can do, but it had to be done with class. She also believed that if you had certain feminine assets, you should flaunt it but not over do it. There is a difference in sexy and trashy. A lady knew how to flirt but also remain a challenge. Any one can have anything that’s easy. The bigger the challenge, the greater the reward. You just had to keep the game interesting. Reputation was everything. People are always going to talk just don’t give them too much to talk about. She would have been impressed with the progress women have made in the professional field but she would be disappointed that women are still not getting equal pay for equal work. She would have felt that if a woman is smart enough to get a job she should be paid accordingly. A man should not be paid more just because he is a man. We all know sometimes the best man for the job is a woman. |
