Visiting with the family!

My Picture
Yesterday started off very quietly--we didn't have much planned except that Sid wanted to remove another post or two.  Well, my friends, HE'S FINISHED with that--a total of TWELVE posts removed.  That's one job we're BOTH glad is over.  Of course, now that he's taken twelve posts out of the ground, he has to put EIGHT new ones into the ground--for our carport!

In the middle of the afternoon, we received a call from Bec saying that she and Randi would come over for a visit IF we were going to be home. Of course, we had not special plans except to attend Mass, so we told them to come on over.  I should have know, though, that there was an "ulterior motive" for the visit.  Nah, just kidding--however, Randi gave her Mom a gift certificate to NOT YOUR MAMA'S for Christmas, and our last plans to go there fell through, so Bec wanted us to do that last night.  As usual, my arm didn't need much twisting.

We told Bec just to come into the house if we weren't back from Mass yet, which we weren't.  When we arrived, she was sitting on the porch relaxing, and Randi was inside doing the same.  After a short visit and a change of clothes, we left for NYM's.  Because we left a little later than we usually do (we usually head out there right after Mass, and this was almost 30 minutes later), we figured we'd have to wait in line, hoping the line wasn't too long.

When we got there, we saw people standing around in the lobby, so we figured we'd have a pretty good wait.  Not so--we only waited about 20 minutes or so, well worth it.  A "guest book" in the lobby, with the last entry just a day or so ago, said that visitors should ask for a certain waitress because she was fantastic.  When our waitress came to the table, she was rather reserved and I figured DEFINITELY not this particular waitress.  However, she turned out to be a beautiful young woman named Angel, and she was an angel.

Angel answered all of our questions and brought our food as quickly as she could (which wasn't very fast because there were so many people there).  There is a sign in the restaurant that comments on the length of time a customer might have to wait because after all, "we are not a FAST-FOOD restaurant"--again, worth the wait.

Between the appetizers and our meals, we once again brought home SIX boxes of left-overs--4 large ones and 2 small ones.  Now, you have to understand that NYM's has prices a little higher than some restaurants around here, but they give so much food for the money.  Plus, Sid had to leave before we were done to keep his obligation at the Eucharistic Chapel, so he did get to eat all of his food (not that he could have anyway).  In addition, we purposely order more than we can eat because we know we'll eat again on that same order.

We brought home fried fish (from both Sid and Randi, so you know we had lots of that--in TWO boxes), a grilled chicken breast, some crawfish nachos, a few onion rings, a couple of stuffed shrimp, and some homemade breads.  Naturally, we all ate on that again for lunch, we kept some fish, and Bec and Randi will eat more of the same at home tonight. Definitely worth the money!

If you're ever in the neighborhood, driving on Highway 190 from Baton Rouge or from Lafayette, check out NYM's in Livonia.  It would be worth the stop, believe me (believe us)!

Today, the order of the day included riding on the 4-wheeler.  This was the first day since I had that sciatica attack that I've ridding for any length of time on the 4-wheeler.  Of course, we had to take turns giving Randi her rides, and she was happy about that.  (Just got a call from Bec--they're home safe and sound.)

Tomorrow, we begin another week, the end of which will find Randi and me in League City, TX for another baseball tourney.  I just got word that Ty and Rett will be in the championship game at this weekend's tourney, so I wish them well.

Jan also called the other night to tell me that Channie had had an experience in the pool.  Apparently, they've been trying to get her to jump in the pool from the sides (with floaties, of course), and she refused.  Jan said that if Channie would jump in, she (Jan--her Nanny), would jump in with all her clothes on.  Can you believe it--taking such a chance!  Well, Jan didn't think Channie would do it--suffice to say that Jan had to wash all her clothes immediately to get out the chlorine.  Channie jumped in; Jan jumped in.  Smart kid, don't you think???  (Channie, of course--LOL)

I tried calling Mom several times today, and the phone was always busy.  So, I called Rick and spoke with him a little while.  He sounded good and told me about a recent visit to his doctor.  Several tests are being planned, so I pray for good news on that score.

That's it for this evening!  Hope you had a great weekend and this new week brings you all things good.

HEARTFELT BLESSING:  To summarize (paraphrase) the quote for today by an unknown author:  "A wise woman found a valuable stone, met a hungry traveler, and offered to share her food.  He wanted to stone--and she gave it to him w/out hesitation.  He left, but he returned later to give back the stone.  Instead, he asked her to give him something MORE precious--whatever she had within her that allowed her to give him the stone."                                                 --author unknown

NOTE:  We strive for the best--the best job, the best pay, the best benefits, the best vacation, the best parties--etc., etc., etc.  But, we need to look around us and within us.  What are these things worth compared to what we always have with us--our faith, our families, our friends, the love of others/the love we give.  The valuable things in our lives are those things we often miss, so-----look inside to find your most valuable possessions!

PS:  I tried to made a couple of corrections to the text here, and I was unable to do so, so please excuse the typos.  Thanks!
