OK! Here I go again! Yes, I said AGAIN!!! I had already started my entry when the stupid (can an inanimate object be stupid???) computer went out. I'll try to remember what I wrote, but I must say that it probably won't compare to the exemplary literary composition that I had originally. (Now, if you believe that.....) Sid had been working in the garden all day (and still is out there); almost all the rows are finished. Today, he made those little teepee-like things on which our pole beans will grow; he's working on the rows to finish planting the rest of our crop: purple-hull beans (huh?), zucchini, yellow squash, and watermelon. Boy! If all this comes up, we will have another bumper crops. I think I mentioned last year that I would not want to be a farmer who depended on this kind of stuff as a livelihood. Of course, we don't have the equipment that a REAL farmer has, but we do alright. THEY, on the other hand, have to also deal with the same things we do, but on a much larger scale--weather (not enough rain, too much rain, hail, whatever), bugs, weeds, etc. God bless them! I completed my physical therapy today, and tonight, I'm feeling a pain that I never felt before (not too bad, but there nevertheless). I'll be as optimistic as I can and think of it as a result of trying to do too much too soon. Hopefully, that's all it is! Prayers, please. Speaking of prayers, I would like you to remember in your prayers one of my cousins who passed away this morning. His name is Gayle and he has been ill for a while. His sister and I have been keeping in touch via e-mails, and I got one this morning telling me about his death. Our faith tells us that he is in a better place, but that doesn't mean that he won't be missed. Rest in peace, Gayle! It's hard to believe that it's almost 6 months since Dad passed away and almost 4 months since NanNan passed away. I still think of them so often, and I often forget that they are no longer here. They, too, though, are in a better place, and I have to remember that. Mom mentioned the other day how much she still misses Dad, even though he was in a nursing for the last 4 plus years of his life and her visits were few and far between because of her own health. I guess when you live with someone for more that 68 years, missing them has to be part of the picture after they're gone. Still love ya, Dad--and, of course, my special lady, NanNan. Randi and I will be heading off to Texas in a couple of weeks to attend a baseball tourney that Ty and Rett are participating in. This is the first time I do one of the tourneys that is so far away, but I think we'll have blast. My only regret is that Sid and Bec won't be there--Sid, by choice, and Bec because of work. Martha Anne called last night and said that she will be discharged from her rehab clinic on Friday. Sid and I will be picking her up that morning. She has done amazingly well during her hospital stay, and I hope that this continues after she gets back home. If I know her, she'll probably start doing more than she should, so we'll all have to keep an eye on her. I know she doesn't want to jeopardize the progress she has made. Randi e-mailed today and said that the a/c in their trailer wasn't working. Whew! I'm hot just thinking about it. Their landlord said that she would get the repairman there today, but I'm sure it wasn't completely up to her. Apparently, the repair work that was done just a couple of weeks ago wasn't done correctly, or they wouldn't have this problem again. We ordered the metal for our carport today, one that Sid will be building as soon as he can. Our cars are in the sun all day, and just getting in them and holding to the steering wheel can be harmful to our health--the wheel is extremely hot, and the temp in the car is unbelievable. Hopefully, the carport will help with that AND will protect our car from other weather problems. It seems that his work never ends--but you know what--I think he really enjoys working outside. I just worry about the heat for him, but he is taking care to hydrate himself regularly, so I'm not fussing too much. That's it for tonight! Hope you have a great evening and a wonderful tomorrow. HEARTFELT BLESSING: "It doesn't matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn't matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years--we turn on the light and it is illuminated." --Sharon Salzberg NOTE: "Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness"--remember that one? When we bless one another, we take away the darkness within us. Here's another one: "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."--LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!!! |
