A couple weeks ago near Detroit, Michigan, Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Barak Obama responded to WXYZ reporter Peggy Agar’s question regarding how as president the Senator would help America’s autoworkers with what some might consider a highly chauvinistic and patronizing response. “Hold on one second there, sweetie.” I thought Holy Cow! Or something close to it anyway and then sat back and waited for the media and those babes over at N.O.W. to skewer him and then roast him alive over an roaring fire. I waited and waited but nothing happened. Nothing but a few lighthearted comments from the talking heads on the twenty-four-hour cable news outlets. Can you imagine what may have happened if George W. Bush had responded to a girl reporter’s question in the same manner? For the record, the good Senator never did answer the reporter babe’s question—of course he didn’t. Regardless of the political bias of the media and the N.O.W. chicks, it got me to thinking—always a dangerous situation. Is it now okay to refer to women as “sweetie”? Has the woman’s movement made a one hundred and eighty degree turn? I can only hope so. For the past thirty years I have felt imprisoned by the shackles of political correctness and now feel free to express myself however I see fit as it applies to those curvaceous creatures formally known as ma’am, lady or mizz. So from now on whenever I speak to a member of the opposite sex I will be sure to address them appropriately as honey, or babe, bimbo, doll or perhaps even yo bitch which has gained in popularity with the rise of rap music. From here on after my wife will be referred to as my old lady—I’m sure she won’t mind considering this enlightened age we have entered into. I’m eagerly looking forward to exercising my new found freedom. Thanks to Barak Obama, Bill Clinton, those little dolls over at N.O.W. and the mainstream media it seems that the time has come to rewrite the sexual harassment laws. I anxiously look forward to the day in the not too distant future when inappropriate touching will be a thing of the past. Any of you babes need a good back rub? |
