The best laid plans...After a busy day, Sid asked if I wanted to have supper at OUTBACK, probably my 2nd or 3rd most favorite restaurant, and, of course, you know my answer; however, "the best laid plans".... First we stopped at W/M to pick up some prescriptions that we had dropped off a few days ago. That didn't take long, so we were quickly on our way to BR and our OUTBACK excursion..."the best laid plans"... As we drove toward Airline, we were listening to the radio, and I thought I heard something about a traffic situation, but I didn't get all the info we needed, so we waited for the next report. Well, it came--and it wasn't good for us. As we approached the Lobdell exit to I-10, we noticed that the traffic crossing the bridge and leading to the interstate was virtually stopped. We, of course, had to merge into that. Oh, no! We decided to turn around and had to decide what we would do. There was no going to OUTBACK unless we wanted to get into a major traffic jam. Almost at the point of having to make our decision, we actually made a tentative plan. Sid wanted to go to SAM's to pick up more bottled water and gallon containers of water, so we decided to head toward SAM's. You know what's in that direction, too, don't you----DON'S. Now, I like DON's, but we just went, so we were undecided as to whether or not we wanted to do that. The more we thought, the more we figured that we might as well do that because we had the Liberty Card for a discount. So..... First we went to SAM's for the stuff we wanted. We also noticed that they had cartons of GAIN washing detergent, and I wanted to change back to a powder--I must be the only woman in the world who doesn't like the liquid, but I really don't. To me, it's messier, and I just got some when I last ran out of my SA8 (an Amway product that I REALLY like) because Sid suggested the liquid. Well, since I prefer a powder and I'm the one who washes most of the clothes, we got a box. Guess we'll see how that works. I have been using SA8 for years, and I'm not one who likes to change a good thing. Our job done at SAM's, we left for DON's. Though there were some people waiting, we got in right away, probably because their group consisted of several people more than our "group" of two. We were seated almost immediately and had our food within a short period of time. I won't go into details again--you know the story! We also have some left-over for tomorrow, so that's even better. Our traveling was uneventful (except for having to change our supper plans), so we got back here right before dark. Since then, we've been relaxing as much as possible. Tonight, for some unknown reason, I had a small (very small) panic attack. This one consisted just of an "uneasy" feeling all over my body, so I took one of my pills prescribed for that. So far, it hasn't gone away completely, but it has slowed down. I HATE having that, but that's how it is, I suppose. Mom went to the doctor today with Rick and Lisa. He gave her a shot of Toradol for the pain in her knee and he gave her a shot of Celestone IN her knee (like I had the other day). He also took an x-ray and showed it to Rick--Mom has absolutely NO CARTILAGE left in her knee, so that explains the terrible pain she feels when she walks. Dr. Mike said that she shouldn't be walking at all, but unless he plans to sit there with her all day, every day, that won't happen. Perhaps a motorized chair would help her, but I just don't see her wanting that. In addition, that would require re-arranging her room, which is not a big deal, but Mom likes things the way SHE likes them. Also, she certainly couldn't stay in the chair all day--she needs to lift her legs up or the pain becomes unbearable. That's why we just got the new lift chair for her. Guess we'll have to play this by ear and see what happens. That's it for tonight! Hope you have a great evening and a super weekend. "Simply having children does not make mothers."
