Well, I finally did it. I published "Corpses and Canyons' through BookSurge. It will be available from Amazon.Com or BookSurge.Com probably around the middle of May or early June. It is the second in the "Kip Yardley Murder Mystery" series. The first book, "Bodies and Beaches" sold out readily and I only have one copy left (my proof copy) and I want to keep it. I am trying to get it re-published and it may be out shortly after "Corpses and Canyons". If you like murder mysteries that are Private Eye related, in the manner of the old Richard S. Prather, "Shell Scott" mysteries, please try my books. I am proud of them. After all, how many 71 year old retired duffers have written a complete book? I know a lot of people want to, but few ever do. I've wanted to write since I was a kid. Mike Hammer was my favorite detective in high school, then when I went in the Navy I discovered "Shell Scott" the white headed, zany p.i. created by Richard S. Prather. I was fortunate enough to meet Richard Prather in 1963. I was a meter reader for a gas company and noted his page in my meter book. I was brazen enough to ring his door bell and tell him that I wanted to write mysteries. He was very polite, very kind and talked to me for about a half hour, gave me a soft drink, and sent me on my way with renewed determination to be a mystery writer. It took me a whole lot of years to do it, but I'm finally enjoying writing the "Kip Yardley Murder Mysteries". Richard S. Prather had this to say about my first book: 'Bodies and Beaches' is good job, with a likable lead and a lot of interesting action I enjoyed reading, and you write very well indeed. Verdict: Well done! " My books are not full of gore, blood and guts. My guy, Kip Yardley, shoots a few crooks and is pretty efficient in Martial Arts, but my plots are not DEEP and DARK and BLOODY like some. Yardley is more like Shell Scott and Fletch, rolled into one. He is not a slick flambouyant sports car driving private eye. Instead, he drives a beat up old Chevrolet, is divorced and takes a lot of low paying cases just to keep his child support payments up to date and beer in the fridge. But, he's likeable, honest, and enjoys his work. Check him out in "Corpses and Canyons" available in mid May or early June from most bookstores and Amazon.Com.
