Eating out--YAY!

Although I didn't have anything to write about yesterday, anything of great import, at least, today has been different.  Randi and I were busy most of the day, doing fun things and waiting for Sid to get home so we do our "most fun" thing of the day.  So, here goes---

First of all, I did get a call from Mom yesterday w/re her lift-chair that has been ordered.  Since they told me it would take about 1-1 1/2 weeks to arrive, I wasn't at all concerned, but--well, Mom is another matter.  She loses track of time and thought it should have been here.  Or so she says---she actually did remember the time frame (she mentioned it a couple of times during our conversation), but maybe she thought it had miraculously arrived earlier.  IT DIDN'T!

I called the place that ordered the chair for us, and, again, they were really nice.  I did tell the lady that I was aware of the arrival time, but that I was doing this to satisfy my Mom.  She understood very well, checked on the order, and said that it was scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.  She also said NOT to tell that to my Mom just in case it was delayed.  Hmmmm--her Mom must be pretty old, too!  Anyway, I'll call Mom either tonight or tomorrow to give her the news that it has been ordered and should arrive next week.  Hopefully, that will satisfy her for the time being.

Because this is a Lenten Friday, no meat is allowed for us, so Randi and I decided we would "eat out" today.  (You see, we need to have an excuse (reason) for doing so that can be justified, or we'd eat out every day--and that would definitely "break our bank").  We had thought of doing our regular Piccadilly run, but since we were pretty sure we had other plans for tonight, we decided to go local--Satterfield's, it was.  Randi ordered a shrimp remoulade/fries (she said it was VERY SPICY); I got the soup/salad meal--seafood gumbo was the "soup" of the day.  Everything was good, and the service was OK as well, so we enjoyed that outing.

When Sid got back from school, he said that we would be going to----you guessed it----DON'S for supper.  What?  Don's?  I don't think so--we just went there a couple of weeks ago.  Yeah, right!  You know that we said YES to that immediately!  So, we did!

Before pulling into Don's, though, we went a little further to fill my car with gas.  The price is getting ridiculous!  Getting?  Already there!  Fortunately, my car is getting almost 30 miles/gallon (it was 29 with this fill-up), so that's pretty good.

We arrived at Don's a little after 5pm, and there was a good crowd, but not over-flowing.  Again, the service was excellent--in fact, we were amazed at how quickly we received our order.  Randi got the fried oysters/fries (we suggested the large order so she'd have some left-over for tomorrow, so that's what she did); Sid got the crawfish bisque, which he really enjoyed--it had SIX stuffed shells, REALLY STUFFED, as well as the loose crawfish in the bisque; I got my usual grilled tilapia/baked potato meal with a side salad.  All of us were very satisfied with the food, service, and ambience.  I even got a bread pudding to take home (haven't tried it yet, but I will later this evening.)

We got back home around 6:45, having made excellent time.  I love this time period, when we have that extra daylight after school.  We didn't have time to do much around here today because we went to DON's, but we would have plenty time to mow some grass on another day.  I'm thinking about doing some of that tomorrow, weather permitting--and it should.

Sid has to monitor the students in detention again tomorrow.  Apparently, they had to re-do their teacher-monitor list, and his name came up right away.  He has to be there from 8am-10am, so that's not too bad; of course, the fact that it's a Saturday makes it not too good, either.

As you can see, our day was full--and our stomachs are, too.  Hope you have a great evening and a wonderful weekend.
