Here I am again, back at the computer after a quick trip to Lockport. I really got a lot done in those few hours there, so I consider it to have been a successful trip. Leaving here at 9am yesterday, I arrived in Lockport around 11:30 or so, perhaps a little later. I had business to attend to at two different banks--no, it's not all for us, believe me!--and I was able to take care of one situation before getting all the way into town. I called Randi, and we had lunch at Blackie's, so that was an added little treat. After lunch, we went to Mom's to get some paperwork that I needed in order to complete her business at the second bank. The people I needed to speak with were either at lunch or busy with someone else, so I left the bank with the intention of returning after my next appointment. No problem there! I went to my appointment for a haircut and was taken almost exactly on time. Naturally, the cost has gone up, but I really shouldn't complain. This lady has been cutting my hair for a long time, and the price hasn't gone up in a very long time as well. Randi came with me there, hoping that she could her nails done; however, they don't do that at particular shop, so she was out of luck. We returned to the bank and were finished our business in short order. The young lady who dealt with me was really nice and finished her task quickly. So now, we've done with all of Mom's business regarding Dad's passing. I'm sure he had something to do with the ease in which we were able to take care of everything. Thanks, Dad! As I may have mentioned, Mom's lift chair doesn't work any more, and she has to sit all day with her legs just dangling in front of the chair. In her condition, this becomes extremely painful, but she didn't want to buy another one. Well, I called a couple of places, talked with my siblings, and we decided that she had to get a chair. I'm sure Dad would have wanted her to spend a few bucks on herself, and what better way than to provide some comfort for her. So, today, I ordered thechair; it will arrive in about a week or so, and I reminded Mom to rest her legs as much as possible; she assured me that she would. Yeah, right! My appointment with my cardiologist went well, too. He upped a couple of my meds and wants me to have an ultrasound done in about a month, just because he hasn't done one in a long time. Because my thyroid results were a little high, he wants yet another blood test done on that. I have that scheduled for early next month. I also scheduled Mom's appointment with her cardiologist for the end of next month--just a follow-up appointment. After the appointments, I went back to Mom's for a little while and just told her that I was leaving. I picked up Randi and off we went. We stopped at Politz in Thibodaux for lunch--because we like that restaurant and because Lenten Fridays do not allow for meat, so we had to find a place that served seafood, and this is one of the best in the area. I met up with several old friends there, too, so that was a bonus. We left Politz around 12:15, and arrived here right around 2:15, so we made excellent time. We did run into some misty weather, but nothing too bad. Sid got here around 3:45, just a few minutes after the income-tax lady arrived. WE GET A REFUND!!!! Thank goodness for that; it's not much, but at least we don't have to pay anything, and we can live with that. Sid and Randi just got back from Livonia where they bought some fish for supper. I'll be heating some white beans to go along with that, and supper is done! Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend! HEARTFELT BLESSING: "I thank Thee first because I was never robbed before; second, because although they took my purse, they did not take my life; third, because although they took my all, it was not much; and fourth because it was I who was robbed, and not I who robbed." --Matthew Henry NOTE: There is always a time and a place for gratitude; the more we thank, the more there is for which to be thankful. Plant a garden of appreciation in your heart. |
