Mom's in great shape? How would he know?

I'm back from yet another trip to Lockport, this time for an appointment for myself on Wednesday and one for Mom today.  Mine went very well, so there's no need to discuss that; however----

Mom's appointment was for 9:25am--no problem!  We left her house right around 8:30 or so, giving us plenty enough time to allow for traffic flow and whatever.  We were called into the doctor's inner office at 9:50am, waiting until the doctor actually came into the office at 10:29am. (You might wonder why I have such accurate times; I suspected that today would bring the same kind of "efficiency" that we've experienced too many times before--and I was right.)  The doctor was OUT of the office at 10:30, yes, 10:30--he barely spent a minute with Mom, just checking her heart rate and pulse and telling her that she looked really good and he wanted blood work done--that's it!

Ten minutes later we were in the lab, where the nurse did an EXCELLENT job of getting blood from Mom, and we were in our car and on the way back by about 10:50am.  So, you see the amount time spent in actual "doctor contact" was absolutely minimal, to me, even less than minimal.  But, what can you do?  Thankfully, Mom has been feeling quite good except for her arthritis, so I didn't say anything; but, had she been having problems, that would definitely not been acceptable.

After the appointment, Mom wanted to eat, as usual.  This time, she suggested possibly meeting Sandie to eat at a place somewhere between Mom's and Sandie's, a place once called GATOR STOP and now called ZYDECO.  I must say that this new management has done an excellent job with regard the atmosphere.  It really looks nice, and the service was good as well.  The four of us (Randi included) had time for a leisurely visit and a good meal, so that was a bonus of my trip there.

Last night, I had supper with some pretty special folks in my life, including Randi and her Mom.  We ate at OUTBACK in Houma, and everything was delicious.  We did have to wait a few minutes before we were able to get a table, but we visited outside while waiting and it made the time pass quickly.  Really enjoyed the evening!

Before the meal, we went to BEST BUY, where Bec was looking for something for her computer.  You know my knowledge of computers, so I have no idea what, but I think she was successful.  Now, let's see if she can get it going so she can back on-line.

Before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes go out to my little sis, SandieSandie joined our family after an 11 year break in the addition of kids--I was almost 12 1/2 and Silvia was 11.  We were so happy to have a little baby in the house, a little sister with whom we could play.  Yeah, right--babysitting became part of our routine; we complained, but we loved it.  Sandie tagged along just about everywhere we went (when she was old enough, of course), and I know that I enjoyed that a lot.  Of course, she was also a little spoiled (mostly by Silvia and me), so she sometimes gave us fits when we took her places--she wanted what she wanted, and we had to give in or be embarrassed at the stores.  BUT, we loved her very much--and I am still so glad she's part of my life.  I was given the honor of being her Godmother, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.  Hope your birthday is super-special, San!  You know I love you--and I wish you all things good!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Have a great day and a fabulous Friday!
