"It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He jumped in bed and bumped his head, and he couldn't get up in the morning." That's what's been going on here, except for the snoring, jumping in bed, bumping his head, and not getting up in the morning. Well, I guess you know what happens to me when I'm stuck inside all day without even being able to get on the porch. I go a little bit loony. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! Boy! It has really been coming down today, and it hasn't stopped yet. Tomorrow isn't going to be any better according to the forecast except that it may not last the entire day. We can hope, huh? I sure hope Atlanta got its share; those folks have been having problems just getting enough drinking water, so this would be good for them. This weekend has been just a so-so time for our Louisiana football teams: LSU lost in the 3rd over-time; the SAINTS won. Sid and I have even started watching the games a little, which is something we rarely do. Oh, yes, we check in on the games throughout the time, but to sit down and watch the whole thing---nah! In any case, I really felt bad for the LSU team because this was the last game for 25 (I think) Seniors, and I'm sure that's not how they wanted to leave LSU. Sid has been working on lesson plans and paper-grading at various times throughout the holidays, and today was no exception. In fact, he actually began his work on the mid-term exams which are due in four weeks, right before Christmas. He intends to make the answer sheet a scantron type, which is harder to prepare but much easier to grade. I told him that I was very impressed because he has a reputation in our family for being a procrastinator, and look--not due for four weeks. WOW! Nice job, Honey! Today ends his Thanksgiving holidays and begins that time right before Christmas. There are three weeks of so-called "regular" classes followed by a week of exams. Of course, the kids begin getting antsy as it gets closer to Christmas, so the teachers have their work cut out for them. This I know--been there, done that! Bess' daughter, Dominique, and her family have returned to their home in Alabama. They were here for the holidays, and it was really nice to see them for more than a minute or two. Even though they left here in the rain, they drove most of the way in clear weather, according to Bess. They have arrived home safely--and that's the important thing. Not much else is going on here, so--- Have a great evening and a super week. "It is only through daily reading that you refresh your mind sufficiently to speak wisely." --Chinese Proverb |
