While waiting for our kids/grand kids to arrive this evening, Randi and I spent the day getting the food items ready. We went to W/D, which neither of us enjoys doing, but we got the things we needed--or so we thought. Almost as soon as we got back to the Cottage, we received a phone call asking us if we had a roast, did we have chicken wings, did we have drummettes, etc. Well, NO, we didn't, so Sid and I went back to Langlois' later on in the evening. We managed to get everything we wanted and even had a chance to chat with Bec while we were shopping. The gang arrived around 7:30, having been caught up in some kind of traffic problem in the Lobdell area. In the meantime, they called again to see if we could pick up food for the kids at D/Q since they had intended to do that before they got stuck in traffic. We took their orders and went to D/Q later, arriving back at the Cottage just after they got here. Perfect timing! The kids all ate and began playing with the foosball game and the pool table that is part of that set. Channie, of course, didn't stop for a minute, and she looked exhausted. I guess exhaustion in a little one takes a while to be recognized by them; she JUST went to bed (and is still not sleeping) and it is now almost midnight. I hope she gets to sleep soon and sleeps all night. Randi has been in bed for a while, not even finishing the movie I got for the kids today--HERBIE. We watched the entire thing, though, and I thought it was cute as I remembered it to be. Hopefully, the weather tomorrow will be nice and not too cold so that the kids will be able to play outside. As you might have expected, Jess requested a meal at DON's--and Jan, never having been there, agreed with that request. So, if plans go according to their schedule, we'll be having lunch there tomorrow. For tomorrow night, it's supposed to be hot dogs/chili and setting up our fire box. They also want a roast cooked in the crock pot, so I'll be putting that on as early as I can. Carly has another game tomorrow, so they couldn't come. Hope she is as successful this time as she was last Saturday--remember that winning shot??? Good luck to her--and her team! Still haven't gotten lab results on Dad, but I did speak with his nurse. She indicated that Dad had eaten again and that the nurse reported at change-of-shift that Dad was doing better. His nurse also said she noticed a change in Dad, more alert and even reading the paper again. That is a BIG improvement for him, so it looks like things are going along OK. I didn't get news of NanNan today, but I didn't really expect any. I assume she is still about the same, which isn't good. Prayers are still requested. As you can see, most of our day was spent waiting for the family to show up, so not much has happened; however, I think tomorrow and Sunday will bring more excitement and more activities. Until then---- Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend! "The best way to secure future happiness is to be as happy as is rightfully possible today." --Charles W. Eliot |
